I discovered this image from 2013 while cleaning up my VSCO gallery. My wife had a dinner date planned with my son so I planned a dinner date with my then 13-year-old daughter, Kiran. She chose Nomad Pizza. We talked about her hopes for the new school year.📷

Small rise in F1 COVID cases not linked to fans attending Russian GP

Haas F1 driver Romain Grosjean said over the Russian Grand Prix weekend that it was the first race were he did not feel safe in his hotel.

“In Russia, wearing a mask isn’t mandatory,” Grosjean said. “Waiters do but don’t cover their noses. There are many fans at the hotel, so we sometimes find ourselves sharing an elevator with people from outside the F1 bubble.

“That’s not something I’m super comfortable with.

I watched that race last weekend and was just flabbergasted by the number of people in the stands. 🏎

My daughter took the photo. I did the post processing.

Refreshing. And the lower ABV is perfect for a lunch break. The 9-11% IPA are over played.🍺

This Tropical Milkshake IPA is a NEIPA is from Source Brewing in Colt’s Neck, New Jersey. It can’t get anymore tropical than papaya, guava, mango and ripe melon.Lloaded with protein rich wheat and oats along with a touch of milk sugar. It’s a meal in a can.

Daniel Sigg has released the first, second and third episodes of his new podcast, CREATE.PHOTOGRAPHY.

It’s fall. The leaves of the Sassafras tree were strewn across the lawn grass. Once the leaves start to decay the air will smell so sweet.

Morning coffee time is going to be awesome.

When your cloud backup provider spies on you.

I just discovered that my cloud backup service, CrashPlan by Code42, is now using Facebook, Google, et al cross-site tracking cookies on their customer support portal. I have these blocked so now I am unable to use their support website until I allow cross-site trackig in Safari.

I complained to customer support who could not offer an alternative support request process.

What good reason do Code42 have for tracking customers in this way? How does this enable the customer?

I have informed them that when the subscription expires I will not be reviewing the service against competitors. This spying really bothers me.

CEATE. PHOTOGRAPHY. podcast

logo for CREATE.PHOTOGRAPHY podcast

On 1st October, Minneapolis photographer Daniel Sigg will launch CREATE. PHOTOGRAPHY., a podcast focused on the creative side of photography. Daniel hopes his podcast will inspire and provide new creative perspectives. Daniel photographs primarily on film.

Daniel provided his “launch team” with early access to the first few podcast episodes. The first episode is introductory. In the second episode, Daniel Sigg discusses mindfulness in photography and the concept of visualization of photographs, something that I strive for in my everyday casual photography.

In the third episode, Daniel hosts Australian freelance photographer and filmmaker Hashem McAdam. Hashem and Daniel discuss how too many options can hurt creativity and how limitation can paradoxically increase it. I found myself nodding my head when Haseem compares using one lens and one camera body to competence in a sport. One can either play multiple sports with mediocrity or focus on just one sport; practising that sport on a regular basis can lead to mastery. The two briefly discuss gear, with Hashem admiring Fujifilm cameras and expressing a love for the 40mm focal length.

Daniel has released the first, second and third episodes of the podcast on his blog.

The most interesting bit of news that I read so far this month.

The mystery of why an entire village lost its broadband every morning at 7am was solved when engineers discovered an old television was to blame.

This is a reasoned and well written article that lays out the challenges for TikTok and the United States.

U.S. Requires Servers to Ban TikTok, WeChat Traffic

This was an experiment to see if drinking out of a fancy Teku glass improves the taste of Corona Light 🍻.

No. No. It doesn’t.

But it’s a great flavoured water alternative.

Yet another reason for me to enthusiastic about Fujifilm. Issuing a firmware update for the X-T2, a 4 year old camera, is unusual, even if it’s just bug fixes.

Alphy 📷

Introducing Alphy, the newest addition to our home. Alphy is an orange domestic shorthair mix whom we adopted from SAVE a shelter for homeless animals in Skillman, NJ. Alfy, whose name was originally Harry, was a frightened young kitten found together with his brother, William. The rescuers at SAVE gave them their love and patience. Alfy loves climbing and is quite affectionate. He loves being petted.

Alfy is our second adoption from SAVE. Last year we adopted Camilla. Does someone at SAVE have a keen interestest in the British Royal Family?

Submitted for the 100DaysToOffload project 📷.

I tried importing all the entries from my 17 year old WordPress blog into micro.blog.
