Week 18 – Hidden Moon

Posted on May 5, 2012 in Blog | 0 comments

I went out to the west side of Carnegie Lake and set up my tripod to face east over the lake. I used the Star Walk app on my iPhone to find just the right spot to position my tripod and my camera. I waited about an hour – moonrise was 7:48 PM – before calling it quits. The sky was simply too cloudy.

It wasn’t a total waste though. I got to watch the geese swim on the lake. A man came by with his dog. He and his wife had setup chairs to watch the moon. He was using the same app to locate the position of the moon in the sky.

Three exposure HDR (+3/-3), tone mapped in PhotoMatix Pro.
